How Sekigakudo handles information in its apps and on this website.

Sekigakudo (積学堂, “we”) sets out below how we handle users’ information in the smartphone apps we provide (the “Apps”) and on our website, sekigakudo.com (the “Site”). If there is any difference between this English version and the Japanese version, the Japanese version prevails.

1. Information we collect

(1) Study history

Your study history, such as answer records and accuracy rates, is stored only on your device. It is never sent to our servers, and we do not collect it.

(2) Reports of mistakes in questions

Only when you use the “Report” feature in an App to report a mistake, the following information is sent to us:

  • The content of the report (the options you chose and any text you entered)
  • A number identifying the question
  • The app name and version
  • Your device’s OS type and version

This does not include information that identifies you, such as your name, email address or device identifiers. However, information needed for communication, such as your IP address, may be processed by Firebase (described below) when the report is sent. Please do not enter personal information in a report.

(3) Purchase information

Purchases of the Apps are processed by the App Store (Apple Inc.) or Google Play (Google LLC). We never receive payment information such as credit card numbers. The Apps use the mechanisms provided by each store to check whether you have made a purchase.

(4) Inquiries

If you contact us by email, we receive your email address, your name (if included) and the content of your message.

2. How we use information

  1. To check reported mistakes and fix and improve the Apps
  2. To reply to inquiries
  3. To confirm purchases and provide what you have purchased

3. External services

We use Firebase, provided by Google LLC, to receive reports of mistakes. Report information may be stored on servers outside Japan. For how Firebase and Google handle information, see the Firebase privacy and security page.

4. Ads, analytics and notifications

The Apps do not show ads, use analytics, collect crash reports or send push notifications.

5. Sharing with third parties

We do not share the information we collect with third parties without your consent, except as required by law.

6. Retention

Reports of mistakes are deleted within one year after they have been reviewed and fixed. Inquiry emails are kept only as long as needed to respond and are then deleted.

7. Security

We take appropriate measures to protect the information we hold against leaks, loss and unauthorized access.

8. Children

The Apps are intended for users of all ages. The Apps never ask any user, including children, to enter information that identifies them, such as a name or email address.

9. This website

The Site does not use cookies or analytics tools. The Site is delivered through services of Cloudflare, Inc., and information such as visitors’ IP addresses may be processed by Cloudflare to deliver the Site securely.

10. Requests for disclosure, correction or deletion

To request disclosure, correction or deletion of information we hold, please contact us at the address below. We will respond in accordance with applicable law after confirming your identity.

11. Changes

We may update this policy in response to changes in laws or our services. We will announce important changes on the Site.
